ARROW recognises the importance of forging genuine and equal partnerships with NGOs that share common goals, objectives and strategies to enable NGOs from the region to present a united and stronger voice in order to influence women’s health and rights in the regional and international arena. These NGOs are also committed to ICPD and Beijing implementation of women’s health and rights, particularly sexual and reproductive health and rights. Most of these partners have either participated or collaborated in ARROW’s activities or projects.
ARROW’s work in India involves both the International Conference of Population and Development (ICPD) + 15 Project and the Women’s Health and Rights Advocacy Partnership South Asia (WHRAP- SA)- Project.
In the ICPD + 15 project, ARROW’s partners – the Academy of Nursing Studies (ANS), Hyderabad; Chetna, Ahmedabad and the Centre for Health and Social Justice (CHSJ), Delhi are addressing the critical issue of maternal health. Nutritional anaemia is one of the major causes of maternal death in India and research, data collection and advocacy on this issue is ongoing. In the WHRAP-SA project, ARROW’s partners are Chetna and Sahayog. The WHRAP-SA project focuses on strengthening civil society capacity to effectively advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), especially safe motherhood and young people's SRHR at the local, national and regional levels.
ARROW has also worked in India to monitor the implementation of the ICPD PoA at the +10 anniversary.
