International Conference on Population & Development (ICPD) + 5

The development of private medical practices and the availability of drugs over the counter have led to over prescription by health workers in Vietnam in order to raise their income. This has led to drug abuse in urban areas and a reduction in drug supply to rural areas. With salaries insufficient for subsistence, many medical staff have given up their jobs to open private consultation rooms. This means the poor are deprived of medical services. This article looks into the different issues and themes surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights in Vietnam such as the problems in reproductive healthcare and changes in population and family planning post-Cairo. Read about it in Taking up the Cairo Challenge – Country Study of Vietnam.
