Jac sm Kee is a feminist activist committed to transformative politics in the issues of violence against women, culture, 'race', identities, communications & information rights and sexualities. She received her tertiary education through two scholarship awards by the British Council at the University of London and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LLB [Hons]; MSc Gender). Committed to participatory and inclusive politics, she is acutely aware of power relations that exist in socially-relevant axes of identities and strives to challenge that through all her work. This includes power issues related to 'race', sexuality, able-bodiedness, gender, culture, nationality and class. Her activism – at local and international levels - consists of: building capacities in gender, media, communication and digital technologies; researching emerging issues; organising awareness and advocacy campaigns especially through creative expressions, as well as writing analytical, fictional and poetical commentaries. Her writings have been published in diverse spaces, such as academic journals and books, regular columns in national press, web-based resource portals and underground magazines. She is currently the Women's Rights & ICT project coordinator for the Association of Progressive Communications’ s Women's Networking Support Programme (APC WNSP), including heading a global campaign connecting emerging communications technologies and violence against women, and the role as English language editor for genderIT.org, a singular portal for resources and analytical writings on gender and ICT policy matters. She also manages a nationwide research on the impact of polygamy on Muslim families by Sisters in Islam. She co-founded Knowledge Rights with Young People through Safer Spaces (KRYSS; www.kryss.org), a regional organisation that works with young people on the issue of rights through creative platforms, as well as founder of an artists and activists collective organising around gender and civil and political rights in Malaysia.
