Professor Datin Dr. Rashidah Shuib was an ARROW Board member from 2001 – 2007.

She is the Coordinator of the Women’s Health Development Unit in the School of Medical Sciences in Universiti Sains Malaysia The Unit is the first of its kind in a medical faculty in Malaysia and sheis responsible for its establishment. It focuses its work on Research, Education and Curriculum Development, Training, Advocacy, Dissemination and Information activities in women's health and gender issues. Its vision is to be an Academic Centre of Excellence in women's health and gender whilst establishing a strong linkage with the community, particularly with the women NGOs.

Dr. Rashidah is also the Vice-Chair of the Federation of Family Planning Associations, Malaysia and the Chair of the Kelantan Family Planning Association. She was a member of the International Women’s Advisory Panel of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) from 1995 to 1999.

At present, she is a member of the Gender Advisory Panel (GAP) of the Department of Reproductive Health, WHO.  She is also a member of the International Research and Reproductive Rights Action Group (IRRRAG), whose groundbreaking work in tapping women’s voices was featured in a book entitled, Negotiating Reproductive Rights. Dr. Rashidah’s activism in women’s health and gender issues at the national and international levels has enabled her to apply recent work in the area in the academic field.  Prior to joining the Medical School, Dr. Rashidah was the Deputy Director of the Educational Technology and Media Centre of Universiti Sains Malaysia and from 1976 -1977 was an Administrator (Public Relations) with the Urban Development Authority.

Her current research has been in women's health with funding from international organisations as well as from the Malaysian government grants. She was awarded the CICHE from the British Council for the advancement of the Unit.
