I am from the Asian Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women, ARROW and I make this statement on behalf of the Women’s Major Group.

Urgent actions for effective, responsive multilateral systems setting global standards and holding key actors accountable include:

• Strengthen the UN system and ensure the system is fit for purpose, adequately funded to effectively deliver on advancing human rights, gender equality and the rights and empowerment of marginalised groups including women and girls in all their diversities.
• Further commitment, fast track actions to fulfil the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including CEDAW, the ICPD Programme of Action, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA), and the 2030 Agenda commitments
• Gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights and economic justice are key pivots in realising the SDGs, especially decent work and health and well-being for all. With an annual 4 trillion gap in resourcing the SDGs, it is important to ensure financing the SDGs through domestic resourcing as well as ODA accountability from donor countries.
• Ensure inclusive and gender responsive policy making, financing and programming
• Ensure leadership, meaningful participation of women in decision making including in planning, implementation and monitoring, and guarding against backsliding in democratic spaces
• Invest in robust data collection and monitoring systems to review, measure and assess progress
• Improve public investment in health and develop social protection systems for universal, quality, stigma-free health care, including mental health services and SRHR
• Recognise reproductive economy by factoring and redistributing unpaid and domestic care work.
• Finally, connect UN processes especially CSW to FfD to the WSSD, including the HRC processes to ensure a cohesive development agenda and commitment of Member States to realise this agenda
